Diana, a 60-year-old housekeeper, spent an entire day searching for the perfect suit for her son, Arnold. His wedding day was approaching, and she wanted him to look his best. With every penny of her savings, she bought the finest suit she could afford, caring only about his happiness.
Excited, she walked into the house, holding the suit proudly. “Son, look what I got you!” she said with a warm smile.
But Arnold barely glanced at it before scoffing.
“Seriously? I can’t wear this to my wedding! I’m marrying into a wealthy family—I need something better. This looks cheap.”
Diana’s heart sank. Though she forced a smile, his words cut deep. Then came an even harsher blow.
“Don’t come to the wedding. It’s a high-class event. You’ll just embarrass me,” he added coldly.
Devastated, Diana locked herself in her room, her heart heavy with sorrow. But as the tears dried, she made a decision—no matter what, she would not miss her son’s wedding.
The Unexpected Wedding Gift
On the big day, Diana arrived quietly, carrying a special gift—an old ceramic vase, a keepsake from her late best friend. She had been entrusted with it years ago, with a request to give it to Arnold on this very day.
As the ceremony ended, she stepped forward and handed Arnold the box. He opened it, his face twisting in disappointment.
“A vase? Seriously, Mom?” he muttered under his breath.
Then Diana took the microphone.
“Twenty-five years ago, before my best friend passed away,” she began, her voice trembling, “she gave me this vase and asked me to pass it on to you. It was a gift from her parents.”
Silence filled the room.
“After she was gone, I took in her son and raised him as my own. I devoted my life to you, Arnold,” she continued, tears welling in her eyes.
Then, with a soft smile, she added, “Now, open the vase. To your happiness!”
Arnold hesitated, then peered inside—and gasped. Hidden within was a secret stash of money, carefully saved over the years.
Overcome with emotion, he fell to his knees, clutching his mother’s hands. “Mom… I’m so sorry. Your love means more to me than anything.”
Diana gently wiped his tears. “You don’t need to apologize, my son. I always knew you would understand one day.”
At that moment, Arnold realized the greatest wealth wasn’t status or riches—it was the unconditional love his mother had given him all his life.
